What is your style of teaching?
I encourage learning by creating a relaxed environment, stimulating conversation about concepts and organizing material in an easy to follow format.
What materials and media do you use in the classroom?
In the classroom I use a lot of hands on projects. I try and stay away from power point presentations. We have guest spearkers, projects, and exercies.
What is the most engaging assignment you give?
This depends on the class, however, in MIS I give a database project, which takes students from design to implementation.
When grading a student, what do you look for?
When grading I look at the level of effort a students puts into the assignment.
What kind of student would love your class?
A student who likes to be challenged yet think outside the box and is open to new teaching approaches.
What is one piece of advice you have for students?
You need to make sure you speak up when you do not understand something, because that is the only way we know you are struggling.
What area in your field are you most knowledgeable about?
Project Management, Database Development and Leadership Studies
What is one accomplishment you are proud of?
Having started three of my own businesses and they are all going well.
Are you currently involved in something interesting outside the classroom?
I am involved in my own businesses, doing consulting work, and writing books.
Is there anything else the student should know before taking your class?
Be ready to try something new.
