What is your style of teaching?
I am a learning chaperone who makes sure no one spikes the punch bowl but everyone still has the good time they want to have.
What materials and media do you use in the classroom?
Richest media is still face to face communication, dialogue with healthy Q and A. Guest speakers, white board, Google Docs, YouTube clips and Twitter hashtags!
What is the most engaging assignment you give?
It's all in what you make of it. You'd have to ask the individual student to tell you what's most beneficial for them.
When grading a student, what do you look for?
Thought. Application. Not straight up regurgitation because that would make me regurgitate (and I'm not talking information on my end!).
What kind of student would love your class?
Students who are self motivated, who want to learn, who want to apply this outside my classroom someday in other classes and the real world!
What is one piece of advice you have for students?
Don't hate the player, hate the game. "If you work hard and are kind amazing things will happen."-Conan "You don't win friends with salad."-Homer Simpson
What area in your field are you most knowledgeable about?
It's more a set of skills: understanding how to be a great communicator by knowing your audiences and the channels available, then crafting persuasively!
What is one accomplishment you are proud of?
I help others get connected to opportunities to succeed. Those matter more to me than any one thing I've accomplished for myself.
Are you currently involved in something interesting outside the classroom?
The Boston World Partnerships network is helping to inform and connect people in the Greater Boston economy. Get with it or get out of the way!
Is there anything else the student should know before taking your class?
My most active hashtags are OrgCommNU and BWP.I love dogs, punk, ska reggae, rap, mircrobrews, margaritas, cooking, conversation and tropical beaches!
