What is your style of teaching?
I am soft spoken and low key, but am demanding in terms of academic work and classroom behavior.
What materials and media do you use in the classroom?
Lecture/media/movies/documentaries/application exercises/group workcase studies/books related to the field projects/reaction papers.
What is the most engaging assignment you give?
Students enjoy the personality analyses done with movies - some old, some new....
When grading a student, what do you look for?
Creativity, ability to analyze, synthesize and evaluate. Able to defend an argument with facts, good writing
What kind of student would love your class?
One who enjoys structure of material and freedom to look at it from many perspectives. One who strives for improvement, not perfectionism.
What is one piece of advice you have for students?
Sharpen writing and oral communication skills as these will make the difference in whether you are successful or get overlooked.
What area in your field are you most knowledgeable about?
learning, intelligence, personality, social cognition
What is one accomplishment you are proud of?
Touching a student's life and making it better.
Are you currently involved in something interesting outside the classroom?
Yes. I am researching and developing a learning module on domestic violence for my social psychology classes.
