What materials and media do you use in the classroom?
Mac Computers, iPads
What is the most engaging assignment you give?
Research, Prototyping, Design, and User Testing of mobile apps.
When grading a student, what do you look for?
Effort. Creativity. A genuine desire to perform the task to the best of their ability.
What kind of student would love your class?
Passionate about the field. Involved in the community. A balance of artistic and analytical. Willingness to fail while taking risks and pushing yourself.
What is one piece of advice you have for students?
Don't be afraid of failure. Failure is how you learn and build new skills. Embrace the fact that learning is a never ending process.
What area in your field are you most knowledgeable about?
Technology, Design Research, Process, User Centered Design
What is one accomplishment you are proud of?
I'm proud of my time spent with Apple and my experience teaching adult learners within the Apple business network as well as local colleges in Cleveland.
Are you currently involved in something interesting outside the classroom?
Many hobbies. I have a nerdy collecting mentality for movie memorabilia, designer toys, art, books, etc... I'm a fanboy for anything with an Apple logo on it.
Is there anything else the student should know before taking your class?
All I ask is that you come to class with "Developmental Courage". Be prepared to overcome frustrations in the name of building skills and new knowledge.
