What is your style of teaching?
Mostly lecture for core courses. I try to have more discussion in electives.
What materials and media do you use in the classroom?
I fill in Powerpoint slides using a tablet PC and post the lectures after class. I occasionally show short videos.
What is the most engaging assignment you give?
I try to give practical/real-world problems that students may come across during their careers, but usually they tend not to be very exciting.
When grading a student, what do you look for?
You need to know the fundamental equations, what they mean, and how to work with them based on a given problem.
What kind of student would love your class?
Students that are interested in the details of how things work.
What is one piece of advice you have for students?
Be proactive and communicate. I'm happy to help and work with anyone that asks for it.
What area in your field are you most knowledgeable about?
Transport phenomena, nanotechnology, analytical chemistry
What is one accomplishment you are proud of?
Getting my PhD.
Are you currently involved in something interesting outside the classroom?
I am the faculty advisor for Omega Chi Epsilon and on the undergraduate education committee.
