What is your style of teaching?
Lecture based with classroom activities. I do not teach out of the book but I do use power points. Integrate work experience and research into the class.
What materials and media do you use in the classroom?
Power point slides, video, websites, PDF articles
What is the most engaging assignment you give?
Quickfires; a variety of in-class exercises (eg, design an experiment or run a segmentation analysis) and produce a consulting quality presentation in 60 mins
When grading a student, what do you look for?
For papers, succinct and logical arguments that are supported with either data or evidence of some sort.
What kind of student would love your class?
Students who like to learn and want a real world feel in the classroom. If you're invested in the class, I will be invested in you.
What is one piece of advice you have for students?
You need to treat class like a job. Show up to work ready to go and put in a strong effort. You'll get out of the class what you are willing to put in.
What area in your field are you most knowledgeable about?
Marketing research is my primary area of expertise. Secondary would be sales and pricing.
What is one accomplishment you are proud of?
Having two kids and living to talk about it!
Are you currently involved in something interesting outside the classroom?
Currently, I'm researching the how game mechanics in social media games influence consumers' interest in buying promoted items.
Is there anything else the student should know before taking your class?
I like to have fun and joke around, but I'm serious about expecting everyone to do their job.
