Depending upon the size of class I will use videos, power points, clickers (in large classes), twitter, and computer mediated discussions.

In large classes give content rich lectures; in smaller classes I prefer facilitating discussion and debate. I am passionate and committed to active learning.

Those there to learn; not for the grade. Students willing to be challenged politically, intellectually,socially; willing to be transformed through learning.

Are you currently involved in something interesting outside the classroom?
I am working on a book and a film about Aboriginal basketball. It's a sport that I love to play - I also run 8-10 km every day that I can :)

What is one piece of advice you have for students?
To listen, 2 learn, 2 be willing 2 work hard and 2 be challenged in your beliefs. As my mentor once said: "you aren't learning unless you are scared shitless."

Is there anything else the student should know before taking your class?
I believe we have a responsibility to be engaged in making our world a better place for all and to attack privilege. Thus,I often get labeled 'political.'

When grading a student, what do you look for?
I grade assignments in accord with evaluation guidelines given to students. My grades are regulated by UBC's grading policy that limits grade distribution.
