What is your style of teaching?
I am a firm believer in dialogue/discussion. Class time is spent analyzing, critiquing, debating, evaluating, and personalizing readings. I rarely lecture.

Go-getters! The intrinsically motivated. Those who don't mind "DIY" work. The committed. The highly driven. Slackers don't perform well in my classes-ever.

When grading a student, what do you look for?
Information competence = an average grade. I look for insightful moments of clarity, ability to synthesize, analyze, criticize concepts.

What is the most engaging assignment you give?
Large volunteer group projects to help local nonprofits accomplish something they do not have the time or manpower to complete on their own. Eye-opening!

What is one piece of advice you have for students?
Study hard. Prepare well. Read closely. Then bring your true unique self into the classroom, with all its uniqueness. Participate and let your freak flag fly.

Is there anything else the student should know before taking your class?
I've heard I'm "tough, but fair." That's accurate. I don't suffer fools. Be your best self. Bring something interesting to every class. Surprise me
